Sympathy Card using Fabulous Florets

Hi All!  Haven't posted for several days due to my schedule so I wanted to make a quick post before heading out to lunch.   Sad to say I need to send a sympathy card today.  

I decided to use the Fabulous Florets from the Summer Mini Catalog because that is becoming one of my all time favorite flower stamps.  It can be used in so many ways.  I used a non Stampin' Up! sentiment on my card today because I found I don't have one that was appropriate.  I know I will be fixing that as soon as the new catalog comes out!

          

I colored the flowers with Stampin' Up! markers and our Aqua Painter.  Though I wanted my flowers dark today the painters can do a beautiful job on a light watercolor effect.  The ribbon is the 1/2 inch seam binding in crumb cake.  It is also one of my favorites especially when I'm looking for a soft ribbon effect.

The close up shows the 3D effect of the flowers and the shimmer the seam binding gives your card.  This card could be used for many occasions just by changing the sentiment.

Embedded Embossed Card using the new Stampin' Up! Triple Layer Punch

I finally have the new Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch!  It's one of two triple layer punches in the new Summer Mini Catalog.  One of the first things I wanted to do with it was to create an embedded embossed card.  I used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to obtain the effect.

At the same time I wanted a card for this Sunday's CAS (Clean and Simple) card challenge on The Outlawz.  This Sunday it is a sketch challenge.  They are teaming up with the Saturday scrapbooking challenge this week and challenging us to do both a card and scrapbook page with the sketch below.

Always remember that the sketch is a guide and does not have to be followed exactly.

I wanted this card to be bright and cheerful so it uses all card stock from the Stampin' Up! brights family.  Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo... I feel happy just saying the names!  Go ahead...say them.  Are you smiling?

How was the embedded embossed effect created?  By gluing the stripes and punched out shapes onto the Tempting Turquoise card stock and then running it through the Big Shot! using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Don't you just love the effect?

Instead of an image I used a sentiment on Whisper White card stock, sponged the edges with Melon Mambo ink and layered it on Daffodil Yellow card stock. Popped up the sentiment layer with dimensionals and added the cute little buttons from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Strength & Hope Swap Card

Saturday night I attended a demonstrator meeting held by Monika Davis.  It was my first and I am so excited she invited me to become a member of her PAWS group.  It was so much fun!  I met some great Stampin' Up' ladies and came away with some wonderful cards from the swap.

Cindy Schuster did a presentation for us on My Digital Studio and we made two hybrid scrap book pages.  We did two "make and takes", one of them an easel card created by Monika using the new Triple Punches in the Stampin' Up! Mini Catalog.  I'll have to show you that later this week.

First I would like to show you the card I made for the swap.  I call it a "flurry of butterflies".  :)

I randomly stamped the Strength & Hope butterfly on Very Vanilla card stock with Pretty in Pink and Perfect Plum ink. I stamped off once with the Perfect Plum to make it more pastel.  Both layers are torn.  The top layer was torn and sponged.  The Pink Pirouette layer was run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder.  Ribbon and pearl are the final touch.

I would also like to show you the the Strength & Hope hybrid scrap book page designed by Cindy.  All I need to do is add a picture of my friend and I when we did the Avon Breast Cancer Walk.  By the way the walk was awesome.  If you have ever thought about being apart of that walk I highly recommend it.  Just make sure you TRAIN!

Fabulous Florets

Fabulous Florets is just that...FABULOUS!  It is one of my favorite stamp sets from the Summer Mini Catalog.  There are many ways to use this set and I just love the sentiment "the earth laughs in flowers" e.e. cummings.

I used Crumb Cake to stamp the background stems (stamping off one time) and then stamped the focal stem in Certainly Celery.  The flower color is done by first inking the stamp with  Daffodil Delight and then using a Pumpkin Pie marker to outline the petals throughout the stamp.  The flower and all layers of card stock were then sponged with Crumb Cake.  Popped the flower up with dimensionals.

Since I am new at this blogging thing and posting my cards online I am trying different ways to take pictures of my work.  Today I tried a black background and think it works well. Also learned how to make a watermark in Photoshop Elements which was way cool.  :)
