Stampin' Up! Halloween Treat Box and Card

Welcome! 

Today begins the September Hopper's Blog Hop and our theme is Halloween.  Such a fun time of year...especially if you have children or grandchildren. There are cards and 3D projects to inspire you and get you thinking about the fact that Halloween is just around the corner.

There's also some blog candy for some lucky winner at the end of the month.  If you would like to play along, please leave an encouraging comment on each blog.  On September 28th a random winner will drawn from all those that have left comments.  Be sure to leave your email address so we can contact you. The blog candy is 30 - 6" x 6" sheets of retired Halloween Designer Series Paper and a roll of retired 5/8" Black Grosgrain Ribbon!  

My Halloween project is a little bit different in that it uses a non traditional orange - Calypso Coral!  I think it would be perfect for a girly Halloween...either big girls or little girls.  :)  

• The card is a square 4" x 4" card. 
• The spider web from the stamp set Wicked Cool has been stamped in black and then sponge lightly with Calypso Coral ink.
• The spiders in the web and the cute little spider eyes are actually rhinestones.  All you need to do is color them with a black permanent marker.

• The treat box is made with the Fancy Favor Die.  
• It's so easy to construct the striped lollie with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.
• The strip is cut 1-1/8" x 12" and scored the length every 1/4".
• I used a hot glue with the new Silicone Craft Mat to create the lolli.  You can use both hands and it's so easy to remove it from the mat.

EEK!!!! Creepy Spiders from the Scaredy Cat Stamp Set.

With Halloween less then a week away I had decided not to post any more "spooky" cards or projects.  But...I like to send my two grown "single" boys a Halloween treat ($$).

This first one uses the stamp set Scaredy Cat.  I love the spiders in this set...even though...I HATE SPIDERS!  But it's kind of cool how real these spiders look.  Actually they give me the willies!

Same spiders...two different looks. 

On this one I added a ribbon and tag with the "Spooky" sentiment from Wicked Cool.  The Frightful Sight designer paper has been a fun set of papers for this Halloween.  But what I love about it is I can see using the fun polka dots and stripes throughout the year.

Halloween Pencil Treats

A quick post today before I start getting everything ready for a stamping party tonight.  I'm looking forward to it.  I think we are going to have some newbies to stamping tonight.  That's always fun.  I love to watch how amazed some of them are that they could end up with such a great finished product.  

Today's  Halloween project shows another way to decorate the closure on the new narrow cello bags.  Plus another goodie that can be placed in the bag...cute Halloween pencils.  

I took a rectangular piece of card stock and scored it so it would fit around the end of the bag and be shaped to the pencils.  Then decorated one with the spider in the Batty For You stamp set and the other with the owl from the Warmest of Wishes in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Aren't they cute?

I still have a few dates open for the end of this month if you think you might like to have a stamping party.  You can have it in your home or my stamping room here in Jasper.  Which ever you prefer.  If you would like to do a project you saw on my blog or anywhere else let's talk and set up a date.  Both you, your friends, and family will have a great time.  I promise!

Stamp Class is This Week - Fall is What It's All about.

Now that the weather is getting cooler here in North Georgia it really makes you want to think about Halloween and Fall projects.  I just love Stampin' Up!'s colors for the fall.

In Stamp Class this month, actually this week, we will be making projects that I know you are going to love!

We will be making these four projects plus one additional Halloween project if time permits.

Here's a close up of the pumpkin card.  It uses the oval punch and lattice embossing folder to make this great looking pumpkin that can be used for both cards and scrap book pages.  I think it would be really cute on place cards for Thanksgiving.  Maybe even on matching napkin rings.

Eek! Spiders!

Just a quick short post for today as I am planning for Stamp Class this week and some up coming workshops.  I saw this peppermint patty spider online that was made with the picture frame punch that is now retired.  So I used the Scallop Square Punch to make his legs and liked him even better.  The body is two Scallop Square punches with a peppermint patty sandwiched in between.  So cute!

And by the way...that creepy spider paper behind him is Stampin' Up!'s Halloween DSP.

The New Narrow Cello Treat Bags

Notice anything different today?  Maybe you even thought you were in the wrong place. :) I created a new blog header last night using My Digital Studio by Stampin' Up!.  What an awesome program.  It's great for creating cards and scrapbooks but I am finding it is also useful for other things like flyers and my blog...very versatile.

Today I was in the Halloween mood and thought of those new narrow cello bags in the Holiday mini.  They were given to me by prize patrol at convention this year and I'm sure they have been wondering when I was going to pull them out of the dark cabinet. Well...today's the day.

Are they not just the cutest!  You can fill them with all kinds of candy... m&ms, skittles, candy corn, gum balls, red hots, twizzlers and the list goes on.  Or how about a holiday pencil?

The toppers can be round like these.  I just used the scallop and circle punches.  Or square and folded over the top.  You can attach ribbon loops to the top, either thin or wide.  I'm sure there are as many ways to top them as treats to put inside.  The sky's the limit...just use your imagination.

The stamp set used to make the toppers is Batty for You.  One of my favorites.  It has 3 additional stamps besides these.  One of them says "Trick or Treat Smell My Feet".  It's the one I sent my grown boys last year.  Knew they would get a kick out of it.  Fully grown and still want to know where there Halloween treats are. :)

 I did heat emboss the two in black with black craft ink and clear embossing powder.  It made them raised and super shiny.  Wish you could see it better in the picture.

Need Some Inspiration?

Need a little inspiration to get you stamping today? I know I sometimes do. Yesterday I shared with you the Make and Takes we did at our PAWS meeting.  Did you just love that little bat treat container?  I think I am going to make a couple filled with treats for some special little people on my list...OK big people too!

Now for some more inspiration...these are some of the Swaps from our meeting.  Many of them use products from the Holiday Mini.

This first one is mine.  The stamp set is Always Thankful from the Holiday Mini.  I really liked this container with the wheat and decided I wanted to color it with markers and a blender pen.  I stamped it in Chocolate Chip then used More Mustard for the wheat and Not Quite Navy for the container. Putting the Cajun Craze through the crimper gave the card some texture which I like.  I did stamp off the the wheat on the Crumb Cake card stock which is very difficult to see in this picture. A seam binding ribbon is the finishing touch.

Next are two cute Halloween cards.

This first one is the trick or treating masked owl from Warmest of Wishes in the Holiday Mini.  I like the way Linda used the leaves from Best Friends Forever in Black.  Cute card!

I love the designer series paper (DSP) used in Monika's Halloween card. And the spider from Scaredy Cat is so real looking!

The last card for today uses my all time favorite Stampin' Up! DSP.! You'll find it in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  It's called Spice Cake.  It is so beautiful, especially in person.

HALLOWEEN...SPOOKY

Today I have a Spooky treat for you.  This topper uses Stampin' Up!'s Top Note Die.  It can be used for both the small and medium cello bags.  I just think the witch's feet are so cute.  And who can do Halloween without spider webs...Not me!

The candy kisses are dressed in perfect Halloween colors don't you think? They are the caramel filled and the dark chocolate ones.  The difficult part of this project is to not eat all the treats yourself!  I suggest you buy extra...yummmmm  :) 

  

By the way, this is a project we will be doing in a free class at the Picken's County Library on Wednesday September 7.  If you are local call the library and save yourself a spot.

Tomorrow I will be sharing a cute bird card that we will also be making in this class.
