Sneak Peek of Papaya Collage

Papaya Collage is a beautiful new stamp set that will be available in the new 2012 - 2013 Stampin' Up! catalog.  When I first looked at the stamp set my first thought was vintage.  I like to make vintage cards here and there but those of you that know me best know me as a clean and simple stamper.  What's great about this stamp set is that you can use it either way.  So with the weather looking a lot more like summer I chose to do a CAS card that reminds me of summer.

• The images from the Papaya Collage are the greenery and butterflies.  I love that the new catalog has some pretty new butterflies.  I folded the one in half to make it look like it landed on the plant and drew antennas by hand with a chocolate chip marker.
• The layered flowers were punched with the Boho  Blossoms Punch.  And the flowers are done in two of the new 2012 - 2013 In Colors - Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple.
• The sentiment is from the new stamp set Itty Bitty Banners.  The neat part - there are new framelits  to cut each of the banners. (Bitty Banners Framelits)

Stampin' Up! Retiring Wish List - Treat Yourself!

Today's card is my version of several cards I have seen on the web recently.  They all have used the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder which I really liked and kept.  I made my changes with the flowers using some of my favorite punches.  Some of which I am sad to say are retiring.   

The center of the middle flower uses the retiring 5-Petal Punch.  This one is going to be sadly missed by everyone.  Besides being used for flowers it is a "go to" punch for many of the punch art projects.  If you don't have it order by May 31.

The two end flowers were made using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch which is also retiring.  This is a fun punch that punches five different shapes plus what I like to call watermelon seeds. I use it often when I make different types of flowers.  It's listed at a 40% discount...Wow!

I'm happy to say that the colors used for the flowers are the In Colors that will be with us for another year.  They are Pool Party, Calypso Coral, and Lucky Limeade.

Create a Cupcake Birthday Card

Last night I worked on a Birthday card for my brother.  I need to get it in the mail today and keep my fingers crossed that it arrives on time.  I struggled with this card as I wanted it to be masculine, fun, and easy to mail.  That meant no ribbon, flowers, rhinestones and everything I love to use on my cards. :(

So I decided to pull out the Create a Cupcake stamp set with the coordinating Cupcake Punch.  So what do you think?  Cute?  I love that little cupcake and I did add a bit of Cherry Cobbler glitter to the cherry!

• The colors are Real Red and Marina Mist on a Chocolate Chip card base.  The Designer Series Paper is from Pocketful of Posies.   
• The large scallops were created with the 1 inch circle punch.
• Since I didn't want to use brads or ribbon I did a little bit of paper piercing for interest.

I decorated the inside of the card with a matching strip of DSP and Marina Mist scallops .  Then I decided on a  big happy birthday!  Wish I could be there to help him celebrate.

Apothecary Art Meets the Framelits

I think I'm in love...with the new "cool" tools from Stampin' Up!.  I'm talking about the new Framelits Dies  available in both the Hearts and Labels collection.  They are very easy to use and you're going to love the way they layer.  And when you team them up with the new Apothecary Art stamp set you have the formula for some beautiful cards.  This is one of the cards we are making in Club this month.

• I decided to use two of this year's in colors -  Pool Party with a bit of Limeade on the leaves.  It's such a crisp look against the whisper white.  
• The new Edgelits are a lot of fun.  This one has such a pretty shape but I'm still not sure which of the two (bracket or scallop) I like the best. 
• A bit of texture is added with the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder.  Can you tell that the pattern is cute little hearts?
• You could stop there but for a bit of Wow I added the Designer Printed Brad on the 5'8" Organza Ribbon.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to take the time to wish all my friends, customers, and fellow stampers a Happy Thanksgiving!  And if you don't see this until tomorrow I hope you had a great day with lots of turkey and everything to go with it.

I have been too sick with bronchitis to do our normal Thanksgiving feast this year and even told my boys it would be best if they not come into the sick house. :)  We decided if we felt up to it we would just go out this year but then...we got a call from sweet friends telling us that they would be bringing our dinner by around 3:30.  Oh My Gosh...it was awesome!  So much tasty food and I didn't even have to cook it.  And the clean up was a snap.  Thank you Becky and Rick!

What I would like to share with you today is a card I made for my mother. She lives with us and her birthday was today.  It falls on Thanksgiving every so many years so the card I did for her today is a fall birthday card.  I used the Monday Mojo sketch.

    

The Mojo Monday sketch challenge is a great way to kick start your Mojo.  So if you sit down to make a card and the creative juices aren't flowing check it out.  It's also just a fun challenge each week!

Remember...it's just a sketch and you don't have to follow it exactly.  Always feel free to substitute if you don't have a specific shape.  The gallery includes lots of of cards for inspiration.  It's a fun place to stop each Monday.

I used the stamp set Gently Falling and the DSP Spice Cake.  Both can be found in the Holiday Mini and are two of my favorites.  If you don't have any of the Spice Cake paper yet treat yourself for Christmas.  You'll love it!

It's a beautiful day in the north Georgia mountains today.  What makes it even better is that my oldest is on his way home from ND to spend several weeks with us. Haven't seen him since Christmas and we have a lot to catch up on.

Today's card features the hostess set called Birthday Bakery.  The images are cute and I love the sentiments in this set.  I attached the card directly to the gift bag so no envelope was needed.

It was a quick and easy card.  The image was colored using markers and a blending pen.  The paper piercing tool is one of my favorites to add a little something extra. And...our new Baker's Twine comes in White, Early Espresso and the Cherry Cobbler used here.

Greenhouse Garden - Two Step Stampin

I have decided to venture into the world of blogging!  Trying to figure it out all on my own so we will see how it goes.  There actually is a lot to learn but I am determined.

I would like to share with you the craft that I have grown to love more than all the rest...paper crafting.  And the products that make this craft such a joy.  Coordinating products from SU...don't you just love it!

My mother asked me to make a card for her to send to a friend.  She wanted it to be clean and simple.  Oh... and also she was in a hurry to get it in the mail!  I tend to shy away from blues.  Maybe it's because every room in my house was blue before our move to the North Georgia mountains.  No blue in this house!  I liked the way it turned out...maybe there is more blue in my future.  Hope you enjoy.
