Scallop Folded Flower

Hi Stampers!

Beautiful morning in the North Georgia Mountains.  And...I am still continuing the celebration of my birthday week! :)  My sweet dear friend of many years is taking me to lunch and a movie today.  Since I'm running late this will be a quick share.

I created this card as my swap for the August PAWS meeting.  This flower was used in a project at convention this year.  It was in one of the extra classes that we were able to take in the evening.  It's made with the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle.

• Punch five scallops.
• Take 4 of the scallops and crumple them in your hand.
• Open them out and fold each of them in half and in half again.
• Use the extra scallop as the base and glue each quarter folded scallop to the base.
• Make sure each folded scallop is facing in the same direction as you glue them around.
• They should fit perfectly on the base.  If not, you can refold the the scallop so that it will fit.

I actually created this card first for my swap and then realized that I didn't have enough of this patterned pattern paper to make all the cards.  That's what I love about this project...the color combos are endless.

The Adorning Accents Folders added a sweet extra touch to this card.  I used the small hearts across the middle.  And then added the the edge folder that coordinates with the Edgelit I used to cut the bottom of the whisper white layer.

This is is such a fun flower!  Here you can see the many layers.  The Boho Blossom Punch was used for the center with a Bitty Button and Basic Pearl.

Such a Cute Bird in the New Betsy's Blossoms!

I mentioned in my last post that I would be getting together with other demos on Saturday for our PAWS (play a lot with stamps) meeting.  It's always such a great time of sharing.  We do make and takes, share business ideas and swap cards.  Oh...and have delicious snacks.

This month the swap theme was birthday or summer from the new catty.  I chose to do a sneak peek using two of the stamps in the new Betsy's Blossoms stamp set.  It has the cutest bird!

• The bird is stamped in one of the new In Colors - Midnight Muse.  And let me tell you about the new stamp pads - they are awesome!  They make such a difference with solid stamps as the coverage is amazing.  It's so crisp and clear.  
• You'll now be able to stamp banners and easily cut them out with coordinating Framelits.  What a time saver.
• The new catty brings with it two new gorgeous ribbons.  This is the new 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in another new in color - Gumball Green.

Cindy Schuster's Pineapple Pudding Cake

9 oz. Jiffy Yellow Cake Mix

5 oz. Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix

8 oz. cream cheese at room temperature

20 oz. crushed pineapple in juice (not heavy syrup, drained

8 oz. Cool Whip, thawed

Chopped walnuts (optional)

1. Mix cake according to package directions and bake in 9 x12 pan for 15 minutes.  Make sure you mix the caked for 3 -4 minutes.

2. Make pudding according to package directions and let it sit for 5 minutes.

3  Whip cream cheese. 

4. Add whipped cream cheese to the pudding mixture and whip together for 5 minutes.

5. Spread the pudding and cream cheese mixture on the cooled cake.

6 .Put crushed pineapple on top.

7  Spread cool whip on top.

8. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts

9  Refrigerate

Sneak Peek of Papaya Collage

Papaya Collage is a beautiful new stamp set that will be available in the new 2012 - 2013 Stampin' Up! catalog.  When I first looked at the stamp set my first thought was vintage.  I like to make vintage cards here and there but those of you that know me best know me as a clean and simple stamper.  What's great about this stamp set is that you can use it either way.  So with the weather looking a lot more like summer I chose to do a CAS card that reminds me of summer.

• The images from the Papaya Collage are the greenery and butterflies.  I love that the new catalog has some pretty new butterflies.  I folded the one in half to make it look like it landed on the plant and drew antennas by hand with a chocolate chip marker.
• The layered flowers were punched with the Boho  Blossoms Punch.  And the flowers are done in two of the new 2012 - 2013 In Colors - Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple.

Graduation, Stampin' Up! Style - Owl Punch

What a week!  Our poor Abby is not doing well.  I know those of you that come to my stamp room for club and classes all think she's a sweetheart and so do we.  I've spent a good portion of my week tending to her. They are treating her for an infection but have some suspicions that it could be an aggressive type of cancer.  I take her to the vet again today and they will decide if they feel she's improving or if they need to do a needle aspiration for a biopsy.  I will let you know how the visit goes.  It's funny how the animals in our lives become such a special part of the family. 

  

When Abby's best friend (my husband) is away she wants to be in my stamp room so she made it up the stairs and I did manage to make a graduation card this morning.  It's my version of the graduation owl.  I added a bow tie to mine in honor of a fun young man I know who loves to wear bow ties. 

• The Owl Builder Punch is great for making and dressing cute owls.  You can decide by the clothing and accessories whether you want a boy or girl owl.  Mine today is a true academic.

• The cap is a 5/8" square topped with a tassel made from Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.  I cut and frayed the the ends.  

• His glasses are the largest circles on the punch with small ear pieces cut by hand.  The bow tie was also cut by hand.

• I used a small rectangle of copy paper for the diploma and tied it with White Baker's Twine.

Stampin' Up! Bright Blossoms ThankYou

Today's card is a clean and simple card that goes together in a jiffy.  The striped designer series paper is from the Twitterpated Product Suite and it's available now and in the new catty come June 1.  I decided to use Real Red in the layers to bring out the small red stripe in the DSP.

The stamp is the leaves from the Bright Blossoms stamp set.  If you missed purchasing it during the sneak peek last month it will be available again on June 1.  The button is from the Brights Designer Buttons and is tied with some white Baker's Twine.

The "thank you" is from the stamp set Short and Sweet.  I am so going to miss the sweet little cursive sentiments.  As I'm sure I have mentioned before it's my go to set for so many cards and occasions.  It will only be available until the end of the month...so order soon.

Imagine the Possiblities - Stampin' Up!'s New In Colors

I'm soooo excited that my Stampin' Up! shipment arrived!  It came on Tuesday but I had to be gone all day yesterday and didn't get to open the box until this morning.  The new in colors...you are going to fall in love with them.  They're hot and trendy and I couldn't wait to show them to you. Oh!, and you all know how I feel about cute birds.  Isn't he the cutest. This is from the new set Betsy's Blossoms.

The new in colors are:  Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petal, and Summer Starfruit.  Don't hey even sound like fun. :) You will be able to order these products beginning June 1, 2012.

I also want to tell you about the new foam stamp pads.  I love them!  They really do stamp clean and clearer.  The solid bird stamp looks awesome and no need to fill anything in with a blender pen.  I so much want to replace all my ink pads.  Not right away though - there are too many awesome new stamps sets on my wish list. lol

The Hoppers Masculine Blog Hop Starts Today

Lovely As A Tree is a great stamp set for a masculine card.   This is just one of the trees in the set.  Using markers the tree was colored with Certainly Celery and then thumped with Old Olive and Lucky Limeade before stamping. 

Isn't this a fun Father's Day Card?  It's a good thing I had boys and a husband who travelled or I would have never been able tie this tie.  I saw this idea years ago on Mary Fish's blog and thought it would be a great card for our hop.  My version is definitely clean and simple.

Stampin' Up!'s Triple Treat Flower - Bleaching Technique

I've been under the weather this past week and just haven't felt like being in my stamp room.  I know that's hard to believe...but is't true.  All week long I have had Hand Stamped Sentiments' colors on my table with the Mojo Monday Sketch and it's still sitting there today.  I've decided to put it all away and later today take a look at this week's challenges.  I encourage you to enter a challenge this week and leave me a comment with the link to your entry.  I would love to take a look.

Today let me show you a project that my Club will be doing this month. We will be stamping and removing color with bleach.  Yes it's an old technique but many of my club members are new to stamping.  And...I remember how in awe I was the first time I applied bleach to my card stock.  Plus some of them haven't embossed yet either.  It's going to be a fun class.

• Stampin' Up!'s Triple Treat Flower has been a favorite this year.   It is an al a carte stamp that is being retired.  :(  If you haven't purchased it yet you might want to think about adding it to your "retiring must have list" and make sure you order it before the end of the month. 

• The Triple Treat flower was heat embossed twice on Rose Red card stock using versa mark and black embossing powder.  You could also get the same effect using black craft ink and clear embossing powder. 

• The first flower was then punched with the Fancy Flower Punch and put aside.  The second flower is where the bleach was used.  Using an Aqua Painter ( or you can use a tiny paint brush) I carefully applied everyday bleach to the inside petals.  Like magic it removes the color.  When dry I punched the flower with the 5 Petal Flower Punch and added it on top of the full flower with a dimensional. The 5 Petal Flower Punch is also on the retiring list but it's a keeper for me.  

• When you work with bleach you need to test it on your card stock to see what color you end up with when the color is removed.  When I tested it on three colors of green I got a different color each time.  Old Olive turns yellow, Certainly Celery a creamy color and Lucky Limeade more of a gray. It's a fun an interesting technique.

Spring Inspired With Summer Smooches?

Today's card is one that I made for my Card Buffet this month.  I had the Hand Stamped Sentiments (#115 - Spring) Challenge in mind when I created it.

When I think of spring I think green. It's beautiful living in the North Georgia Mountains and I love to watch all the trees and plants sprout green in the spring.  And then of course all this greenery comes alive with beautiful flowers.   I had to laugh though when I realized I used the Summer Smooches Designer Paper for "Spring Inspired".

• Using a bold pattern like this one can be a bit of a challenge.  I met the challenge by using only two colors, and breaking the pattern up with the solid colored strip across the center of the card.

• I also wanted to keep the focal point simple but then I love clean and simple designs.

• The 5 Petal Flower Punch is one of my favorites.  It's retiring and will only be available until supplies last.  If if you've been thinking about adding this punch to your tool box order it now!

• The Summer Smooches Fabric Brad is gorgeous.  Oh please Stampin' Up! let big fabric brads be in our future this year. :)

Fabulous Florets Against a Diagonally Scored Background

This is the first morning I don't have to run off somewhere for someone in the family.  I'm looking forward to spending the day in my stamp room. Last night was my first I Love Cards Buffet.  We missed those of you that were unable to attend.  There were a variety of cards to choose from and I am hoping to have several more for next month.  I didn't have enough time to have dinner before everyone got here so we decided to add pizza and a salad from Johnny's to the event...yum.  Make sure if you are local you add this fun class to your schedule next month.

This is one of the cards on the buffet that will still be available for next month.  The stamp set is one of my favorites from the big catalog called Fabulous Florets.  I'm not sure why but Rose Red is not a color I use and now I'm thinking why not.  It's gorgeous especially paired with the crumb cake and old olive.  I love ribbon because it adds so much to a card but sometimes I like to show you that you can make a quick and beautiful card without it.  I wish you could see this card IRL with the textured background and rhinestones...it's stunning.

      

The textured background is so easy to create now that Stampin' Up! has come out with the diagonal score pad.  It sits on top of the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool and you can create textured background, envelopes, and boxes in minutes.  Some people are asking if it sits on top of the Martha Stewart scoring tool and the answer is yes.  I have one here that I don't use anymore and we gave it a try at last club.  Everyone who tried it decided it's not as secure because it slips some but it is workable.  At least until you order your Stampin' Up! one to replace it. :)  

The scoring adds so much and I love the effect you get when you stamp over it.  Click here to see another card that shows this effect even more so. And...my son's cute new puppy.

Posy Punch - Technique Masking

It's Friday!  Hope you're having a great one.  Do you have fun plans for the weekend?  Do they include stamping?  

I had a club meeting this morning and have another on Sunday so I will definitely be in my stamp room.  The best part is that I get to hang out with some of my favorite people. :)

I teach a technique or share a product each month which is fun because I get to watch my new stampers as they discover all you can do with stamps, paper, and ink.  They are often quite surprised when they see their finished creations.  

This card uses the hostess set Posy Punch and it is a fun way to teach masking.   I know all you advanced stampers out there use this technique often but most of my stampers are seeing it for the first time.  The real red flower is stamped first in the center of the card stock and then again on a sticky note.  Cut the one on the sticky note out and stick it on top of the one on the card stock.  Use some re-positional Dotto if you feel the need. Then when you stamp the Daffodil Delight flowers it looks like you stamped them behind the real red one.  I remember when I learned this technique...and what an ah-ha moment it was!

Some paper piercing, rhinestones, and the simple Hello popped up with dimensionals and you have a cute clean and simple card that can be used for many occasions.

Sprinkled Expressions Flower Power

Such a sweet card using the flower stamp in the Sprinkled Expressions stamp set.  It's one of my favorite sets in the Sale-a-bration Catalog. Do you laugh when I use the word "favorite"?  But I just can't help myself...I have a lot of favorites!

I created this card yesterday during an open stamp time.  One of my downline (hi Leishman) brought a  picture of a card off the internet that she thought she would like to make.  So I decided to cut the parts and let it be their make and take.  I changed it up a bit since I didn't have the embossing folder used in the original but even so it turned out really cute.
