Valentine Card - Mojo Monday

I didn't get a chance to look at the Mojo Monday Challenge yesterday but when I saw it today I thought I would like to use it to make my first Valentine Card this year.  I decided to pull out the cute owl punch.  I love the little heart and that fact that you can dress him/her up any way you'd like.  It reminds me of when I used to play paper dolls as a kid. :)

This week you could choose between a scalloped round card or a square one.  I decided on the round and am happy with the way it turned out.  I used paper from the Brights - Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack and decided to stay with traditional Valentine colors - red and pink.  I love the way all the Stampin' Up! products coordinate...don't you?

• The Scallop Circle Die makes it so easy to make a round card.  I made a 5" square top folded card base and then placed the card so 4 scallops are above the fold before running it through the Big Shot.  You can then use as is if you like the flat top.  But in this case I cut an additional scallop circle to place over the card base to make the card completely round.
• Using an embossing folder on the heart (in this case the square lattice) allows you to layer the heart over the same color and still have it stand out.
• The ribbon and sweet button from the Brights Designer Buttons add that final touch.

Snowflake Shaker Frame Card

December 7th already!  Tonight I have a dress rehearsal for our Christmas Musical at First Baptist in Ellijay.  I play in the orchestra and would love to invite anyone local to join us this weekend.  The performances are Saturday and Sunday.  Email me or leave a comment if you would like more details.

I'm sharing today one of the cards and techniques that my club members will be doing this month in club.  We will be learning to make a shaker frame card using the new Shaker Frames in the Holiday mini.  We will be filling it with Mica Flakes also found in that catalog.  They are so much fun!

I saw a shaker frame card where Catherine Pooler cut the center from one of the snowmen in Snow Much Fun and wondered what it would look like if I did the same technique with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.  Have to tell you the picture no matter how many times I took it or adjusted it in Photo Shop doesn't come close to what it looks like in person.  It's gorgeous! The mica flakes pick up the light and make the card sparkle.

Christmas Stamp and Stack - Snowflake Punch

I'm finally feeling better - almost human again!  I have so much to do to catch up for the past 10 days I barely know where to start.  What I want to do is lock myself in my stamp room. :)  But there's cleaning, cooking, Christmas decorating, and the list goes on.  You all know what I'm talking about!

So here's a quick post of one of the cards we will be doing at the Stamp and Stack next Saturday, December 3rd.  We will be making 16 cards (4 of 4 different designs).  Sixteen beautiful cards to send to the special people on your Christmas list.  They will be easy to duplicate cards so if you want to make additional one you would still have time before Christmas.

This card is a beautiful and elegant card made using the snowflake punch. It is cased from Catherine Pooler on Stamp Nation.  I changed the ribbon color and the sentiment using the beautiful Hand Penned Stamp Set from the Holiday Mini.  It's difficult to see in the picture but the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper shimmers with glitter and a rhinestone in the middle.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to take the time to wish all my friends, customers, and fellow stampers a Happy Thanksgiving!  And if you don't see this until tomorrow I hope you had a great day with lots of turkey and everything to go with it.

I have been too sick with bronchitis to do our normal Thanksgiving feast this year and even told my boys it would be best if they not come into the sick house. :)  We decided if we felt up to it we would just go out this year but then...we got a call from sweet friends telling us that they would be bringing our dinner by around 3:30.  Oh My Gosh...it was awesome!  So much tasty food and I didn't even have to cook it.  And the clean up was a snap.  Thank you Becky and Rick!

What I would like to share with you today is a card I made for my mother. She lives with us and her birthday was today.  It falls on Thanksgiving every so many years so the card I did for her today is a fall birthday card.  I used the Monday Mojo sketch.

    

The Mojo Monday sketch challenge is a great way to kick start your Mojo.  So if you sit down to make a card and the creative juices aren't flowing check it out.  It's also just a fun challenge each week!

Today I wanted to post a picture of my sweet Annie.  I have been sick in bed for several days with bronchitis and she has stayed by my side the entire time.  It's always amazing to me how animals know when you aren't feeling well.  

I made some sour cream treat containers to demo at a workshop and give as door prizes last week.  We made snowflake luminaries and I wanted to show them how they could use the snowflakes that were punched out to decorate these cute and easy treat containers.  Most of the gals have children and I know they will be able to use this idea over and over for party favors and such.  

The Cherry Cobbler one is made from the Frostwood Lodge DSP and the other was made by embossing Marina Mist card stock with the Snow Burst embossing folder.  Both can be found in the Holiday Mini.  I just love the pearls!  Four containers can be made with just one piece of card stock...how economical.

And...the Extravaganza!

Swaps and a Way to Stay Organized for the Holidays?

I wanted to share just a few of swaps today from my down line meeting this past week.  I just love the Pennant Parade Stamp set because it's so versatile. And when I saw Mary Fish's 3D tree I knew I needed to make one too.  Of course I made a few changes, one of them being the textured Cherry Cobbler layer.  I used the Snow Burst embossing folder which of course is one of my favorites. :)  And even though this card has a 3D element mailing it is not a problem because the tree lays flat in the envelope.

Isn't Leishman's "So Much Fun" card a cute one?  It's a clean and simple one layer card that almost makes you wish for snow.  She just bought her starter kit recently and is having a great time especially with her new free Big Shot. (Remember... you still have until November the 11th to get yours.)

Gigi's card used the Loads of Love stamp set.  The truck can haul all kinds of things in this stamp set but in this case it's bringing home a Christmas tree for the holidays.  The Cherry Cobbler baker's twine adds a nice touch.

We also did two make and takes.  Gigi did a cute place card for the Thanksgiving table.  Can you all say gobble gobble?  Or better yet... Be Thankful!  The stamp set is the Gift Givers from the Holiday Mini.  It's a cute set that includes many of the holidays and give you a chance to do some coloring.  She used lots of punches on this card.  Can you name them all?

I thought it would be fun to do a stamp case organizer to keep my new team members organized for the holidays.  They loved it!  We decorated a sheet of Designer Series Paper to place in the sleeve of an empty stamp case.  No...you don't need to dump all your stamps sets into a bucket.  Stampin' Up! sells these cases 4 to a pack.

On the inside left I created a calendar for November and December using My Digital Studio and placed it in one of two clear envelopes that are attached to the inside cover.  The second one can hold a list of who you need to buy gifts for, or your holiday menus.  Whatever you think you will find useful.  On the right we attached a matching note pad and of course you need a pen or pencil.  You can have the legal pads cut down to size at your local office supply store.  

Underneath the calendar is a small folder to place your receipts.

These are fun organizers that can be used throughout the year.  I love the hard case for when I just throw it into my purse.  I will be making a new cover when Christmas is over for the rest of the year.  Wouldn't this be a great gift for a teacher or maybe someone planning their wedding.  Just use your imagination and some of that designer paper you're hoarding! :)

Embossed Gently Falling

Fall is in the air!  And the leaves are changing color here in the North Georgia Mountains.  I needed a another thank you card and since the Gently Falling stamp set was still sitting on my craft table I thought let's use it again but show everyone what else you can to with it.  When I finished I thought...what a beautiful card! :)

Yesterday I showed you a note card that used the traditional way to use this two step stamp set.  Today I am showing you a card that only uses the first step the outline stamp.  To give it the WOW effect I embossed them in our new pewter embossing powder found in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  And then I colored them using Stampin' Up! markers in Soft Suede, More Mustard, and Old Olive.

My new Technique/ Products Club is beginning next month and I thought embossing might be a great place to start.  How would you like to make these beautiful leaves?  Each month I will teach different techniques and how to use the many Stampin' Up! products that are available.  Plus instead of paying class fees you get to take that money and buy products.  How wonderful is that!

Hello Doily meets Triple Treat Flower

The card I have for you today uses two of my favorite stamps from the big catalog.  The Hello Doily background stamp and the Triple Treat Flower A la Carte stamp from Monday's post.  It is done in Rich Razzelberry and Crumb Cake card stock.  The sentiment is also one of my favorite stamps in the Holiday Mini Catalog. It is the Hand-Penned Holidays stamp set.

If you are into scrapbooking I can see these elements used in a beautiful scrap book page.

If you didn't see Monday's post you might be wondering about the pink rhinestone in the middle of the flower.  All you need to do is color the stone with a red permanent marker and Voila - a pretty pink!

Halloween Pencil Treats

A quick post today before I start getting everything ready for a stamping party tonight.  I'm looking forward to it.  I think we are going to have some newbies to stamping tonight.  That's always fun.  I love to watch how amazed some of them are that they could end up with such a great finished product.  

Today's  Halloween project shows another way to decorate the closure on the new narrow cello bags.  Plus another goodie that can be placed in the bag...cute Halloween pencils.  

I took a rectangular piece of card stock and scored it so it would fit around the end of the bag and be shaped to the pencils.  Then decorated one with the spider in the Batty For You stamp set and the other with the owl from the Warmest of Wishes in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Aren't they cute?

I still have a few dates open for the end of this month if you think you might like to have a stamping party.  You can have it in your home or my stamping room here in Jasper.  Which ever you prefer.  If you would like to do a project you saw on my blog or anywhere else let's talk and set up a date.  Both you, your friends, and family will have a great time.  I promise!

The New Narrow Cello Treat Bags

Notice anything different today?  Maybe you even thought you were in the wrong place. :) I created a new blog header last night using My Digital Studio by Stampin' Up!.  What an awesome program.  It's great for creating cards and scrapbooks but I am finding it is also useful for other things like flyers and my blog...very versatile.

Today I was in the Halloween mood and thought of those new narrow cello bags in the Holiday mini.  They were given to me by prize patrol at convention this year and I'm sure they have been wondering when I was going to pull them out of the dark cabinet. Well...today's the day.

Are they not just the cutest!  You can fill them with all kinds of candy... m&ms, skittles, candy corn, gum balls, red hots, twizzlers and the list goes on.  Or how about a holiday pencil?

The toppers can be round like these.  I just used the scallop and circle punches.  Or square and folded over the top.  You can attach ribbon loops to the top, either thin or wide.  I'm sure there are as many ways to top them as treats to put inside.  The sky's the limit...just use your imagination.

The stamp set used to make the toppers is Batty for You.  One of my favorites.  It has 3 additional stamps besides these.  One of them says "Trick or Treat Smell My Feet".  It's the one I sent my grown boys last year.  Knew they would get a kick out of it.  Fully grown and still want to know where there Halloween treats are. :)

 I did heat emboss the two in black with black craft ink and clear embossing powder.  It made them raised and super shiny.  Wish you could see it better in the picture.

As Promised - More Swaps

Wanted to share the last of the swaps today from our PAWs meeting.  Some of these should start you thinking about your Christmas cards.

This first card by LeRee is amazing!  She incorporated so many new products form the Holiday Mini.  The Holiday Stocking Die is awesome.  I love the new Snow Burst embossing folder.  And don't miss the big red button, the dotted ribbon and the sweetest jingle bells you have ever seen. They are all brand new this year.

At the convention they die cut two stockings and put a box in between making the cutest gift box.  It actually stood on it's own.

Not sure which of the gals made this card.  It uses the A la Carte stamp "From Santa" and the top note.  A cute card that can be put together easily.

Anne used the new Letterpress Plate and did an awesome job.  It has two different debossed images on the one plate. You will also find this new product in the Holiday Mini.

If you are looking for snowmen for this year's Christmas cards this is a sweet lineup.  The stamp set is called "Holiday Lineup" and it includes a group of crazy reindeer and elves in addition to the snowmen. If you like to watercolor you'll love this set.

The last swap is a sweet baby card.  Do you recognize the stamp set?  It's the Stitched Stocking set with the cuffs cut down.  Just shows you how versatile our stamp sets can be.

Need Some Inspiration?

Need a little inspiration to get you stamping today? I know I sometimes do. Yesterday I shared with you the Make and Takes we did at our PAWS meeting.  Did you just love that little bat treat container?  I think I am going to make a couple filled with treats for some special little people on my list...OK big people too!

Now for some more inspiration...these are some of the Swaps from our meeting.  Many of them use products from the Holiday Mini.

This first one is mine.  The stamp set is Always Thankful from the Holiday Mini.  I really liked this container with the wheat and decided I wanted to color it with markers and a blender pen.  I stamped it in Chocolate Chip then used More Mustard for the wheat and Not Quite Navy for the container. Putting the Cajun Craze through the crimper gave the card some texture which I like.  I did stamp off the the wheat on the Crumb Cake card stock which is very difficult to see in this picture. A seam binding ribbon is the finishing touch.

Next are two cute Halloween cards.

This first one is the trick or treating masked owl from Warmest of Wishes in the Holiday Mini.  I like the way Linda used the leaves from Best Friends Forever in Black.  Cute card!

I love the designer series paper (DSP) used in Monika's Halloween card. And the spider from Scaredy Cat is so real looking!

The last card for today uses my all time favorite Stampin' Up! DSP.! You'll find it in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  It's called Spice Cake.  It is so beautiful, especially in person.
