Boxes and Bags - Stampin' Up!

We are on the road again today.  Home is going to look really good... especially my sleep number bed tonight. :)

I have a box and bag to show you today that are based on the 2, 4, 6, 8 box in this post.  The only difference is that I made them with designer paper and therefore they can be made larger.

Both are made with retired designer paper because I wanted to use some of my stash up but any of the current DSP would look great.  This first bag uses a large patterned retired designer paper and I love the way it wrapped around the bag.  What's fun about using Stampin' Up! DSP is that you can then easily use another sheet in the pack to make a coordinating card.

The bag was made larger by cutting the paper at 10 1/2" x 12" and scoring at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10.  The top was closed off by cutting off three of the tabs and folding the fourth over the top and adding a ribbon.

This box was created for a make and take at my last downline meeting. Both ends were closed and a handle was added. I decorated the front with the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and added the small butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits.

Here the close up shows the detailed embossing on the butterfly.  There are 5 different sized butterflies in the set each with a different embossed pattern.  I love the way a few pearls or rhinestones make each project special.

So the next time you need a bag or box for a gift I challenge you to make your own.  Just grab a piece of your favorite Designer Series Paper - then cut, score and decorate!  Have you taken a look at  the Designer Series Paper in the new catalog?  Place an order today and have it ready for the next time you need to wrap a gift.

Mixed Bunch Gift Bag

A quick hello from Virginia.  Wow...it's hot here!  Yesterday for the funeral at Arlington Cemetery it was 102!  I have to tell you though, the ceremony was amazing with the military band, caisson, gun salute...a sight to see. Today we will be spending time with the family and doing a bit of sight seeing.

Before we leave for the day I wanted to share a project with you.  It was made by Leishman Williams for a swap at our last downline meeting.  Don't you just love how you can take an ordinary lunch bag and turn it into a cute gift bag.

The idea for this bag was taken from the new catalog on page 47 and one she saw online.  She used products she had on hand ( Mixed Bunch Stamp Set, Top Note Die, and Little Leaves Sizzlits) and came up with this cute version.  At this time Leishman does not have a blog but maybe sometime in the future she will and I'll be able to share the link with you.

The Best of Everything Tag Card

The past two days I've been on the road traveling to Virginia to be with my cousin.  Her husband will be buried in Arlington Cemetery tomorrow morning and I wanted to be here to support her and be a part of the military ceremony.  It's sad how weddings and funerals seem to be some of the only times I get to see part of the family.  It not only makes me want to plan a get together for fun but it also reminds me how important it is to stay in touch and connect with family and friends through hand made cards and scrapbooking.

So today I have a quick share for you.  It's another make and take from my last downline meeting.  A perfect card to lift someone's spirits or just to let them know you are thinking of them.  I think that I will be using this card for one of my convention swaps with a change in the sentiment since I need a thank you card.

  • My inspiration for this card came from the tags on page 77 of the catalog.  Tags are fun to use on gifts but I also like they way they look on a card.
  • The tag is cut from the Two Tags Bigz Die which makes a very sweet and interesting tag.  I love the perforation that looks like stitching.
  • The flowers were stamped, cut, and popped up with dimensionals.  The pearls make the perfect embellishment for these sweet flowers from the Best of Everything Stamp Set.
Thanks for allowing me to share. I challenge each of you to make a card using a card in the catalog as inspiration.  Email me a picture of the card and the page of your inspiration card as I would love to share them on my blog.

Have a wonderful day...happy stamping!

CASEing - A Way of Life

As a demo I receive a monthly magazine called Stampin' Success.  It's full of articles, ideas, and projects that are absolutely wonderful.  One of the articles this month was all about CASEing - Copy and Share Everything.  It talked about how you can copy someone else's project exactly or you can switch out elements to make it your own.

It listed some of the reasons why you might want to switch out elements rather making an exact copy.
  • You might want to use a different stamp set, or switch colors.
  • Maybe your'e creating a card for  for a different occasion, gender, or age.
  • You don't own all the products and can't order them in time.
  • You just want to put your own twist on the project and make it your own.
The example they used is to the right.  They took the top card from a past catalog and changed it up creating the card underneath. So for my downline meeting this month I created a make and take using the two examples for my inspiration.  I want both my downline and customers to feel comfortable about CASEing.  In the world of paper crafting it is a way of life!
Here's my CASEd version.   Everyone enjoyed the wow factor of this fun flower made with 5 layers of the Scallop Punch.  The color scheme is Baja Breeze and Rich Razzleberry.

The Little Leaves Sizzlits make the perfect leaves and it was fun embellishing them with the tiny Pearls.  The sentiment can be changed depending on your needs.  I love using the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set because there are so many words that can be used alone or in combination. It's one of my go to sentiment stamp sets.
Stamp Set:  Fabulous Phrases (Clear 120501, Wood 117002
Ink: Rich Razzleberry (126950)
Paper: Floral District Designer Series Paper (126919), Baja Breeze (111352), Rich Razzleberry (115316)

Betsy's Blossoms Box/Bag

My plan for today was to share with you some wedding cards I created this week end.  I attended not one but two weddings and created five cards! Problem is I completely forgot to take pictures.

So instead, I would like to share this cute box/bag.  It coordinates with the card in my last post for the Hopper's blog hop.  It's a 2, 4, 6, 8 box.  Very easy to make.  You can create a seven inch box or cut it down to any height you would like.  You can close both ends like the bottom on this one or choose to do different closures on the top, or even leave it open making it a taller box.

I placed an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock on the Simply Scored Scoring Tool with the 8 1/2  inches running across the top.  Scored at 2", 4", 6", and 8" - hence the name of the box. :)  Then I turned the card stock 90 degrees and scored at 2" on each side.

On the bottom I cut each of the four score lines up to the two inch mark and cut out the small 2" x 1/2" piece.  On the top I cut off all the tabs except for one of the 2" x 2" tabs.  This one is the flap that closes the box.

Use sticky tape on the long tab to make the box.  On the bottom fold all four pieces in and secure with sticky tape.  On the top I folded the one tab over and secured with a brad. The Designer Printed Brads in the In Colors would be a perfect choice.

I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on the flap and decorated the rest of the box to match yesterday's card.  The stamp set is the Betsy's Blossom set.  The colors are Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, and Rose Red.  The sentiment is from the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set.

The card and gift box make a perfect pair the next time you are giving a gift.  What I like about making my own boxes and bags is that I never have to run out to the store.

Stamp Sets: Betsy's Blossoms (C126006) (W126004), Tea Shoppe (C125547) (W125545)

Hoppers Sketch Challenge Blog Hop - Betsy's Blossoms

Welcome to the Hopper's June  Blog Hop!  This month, we're featuring a Sketch Challenge.  Whenever I need a little mojo I often like to start with a sketch.  Some sketches can be simple and some can be quite elaborate. But either way it's a starting point that will often get my creative juices flowing.

This month there will be a random drawing on June 30th and some lucky winner will receive the Stampin' Up! Everyday Elegance Card Pack.  Awesome!  All you need to do to enter the drawing is to visit all eight blogs on the hop and leave a comment at each stop.  Remember to leave your email if we can not reach you through your blog.

You will find links to the other blogs at the end of this post.  Have fun...I know you'll be inspired by all the wonderful projects.  And when you get to the end of the hop take the sketch and see what you come up with.

So... here's what I came up with using our June sketch challenge.  I thought it would be fun to create a Z-Fold Card. It's what first came to mind as soon as I looked at the sketch.  Now that's what I call Mojo!
The flowers are from the Betsy's Blossoms Stamp Set.  What a great set! I stamped and cut out the flowers and then added Rhinestones and Dazzling Details.

Here's a view of the card as you open it.

Stamp Set: Betsy's Blossoms (C126006) (126004), Friendly Phrases (C126151) (W126149)

Mixed Bunch Rolo Flowers

I wanted to dress up my business cards for a business women's networking meeting this week.  I decided to use the Rolo candy flowers I have seen here and there on the web lately.  What do you think...cute?

Every month the group of women seems to get larger so I thought I would make 40 of them to be safe.  I sure hope it will be enough.

I used the Mixed Bunch stamp set, the Blossom Punch, and the 3/4" Circle Punch.  Do you recognize the color.  It's one of the new In Colors - Primrose Petals.

June is an exciting month!  Of course the first reason is the new catalog. You can view it online or contact me to receive your copy.

Second...We love our hostess!  During June and July hostesses can earn an additional $50 in hostess FREE merchandise dollars with a $450 party or private card class.  That's right $50 over and above the regular hostess benefits ($65 plus 1 item at 50% off).  Wow!  That's $115 in Free products plus 1 item at 50% off!  Book your party or private class today.

Nature Wall - My Digital Studio Hybrid Card

Today I'd like to share a card I created using paper I made in My Digital Studio.  Most people think of it as a program for digital scrapbooks but the possibilities are really endless.

After creating the paper I stamped images from the Nature Walk stamp set in Chocolate Chip.  It was feeling pretty vintage at that point so I pulled out a sponge and used it everywhere...the edges and the front of the card. The 5/8" Crochet Trim and Antique Brad were the perfect vintage finishing touches.

I thought I would give you a look at the paper before the stamping and sponging since it is a bit difficult to see the details in the above picture. The background paper is Script and the color is Night of Navy.  I then added the Baroque Motifs Flourish stamp in the same color and lowered the opacity of both the stamp and the paper.

Download a 30 Free Trial today to give My Digital Studio a no risk test run.  That's right...a chance to check out the program to see what it can do.  Why wait!  You have nothing to lose.  Click Here to order the free download in my Stampin' Up! online store.

You will be asked to create an account if you are not already one of my online customers.  You will go through the process of the order as if you were purchasing but the cost is zero.  Make sure my name is at the top of the order page.  If not, use the demonstrator locator to find my store.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Ours was a bit hectic but we did find time to see Men In Black 3 Friday afternoon.  It wasn't my choice but I ended up enjoying it.  Unbelievable how realistic everything on screen is now a days.  My favorite Men In Black movie is still the first one but this one runs a close second.  Lets move on to today's project.....

Stampin' Up! has a lot of great videos for demonstrators and I went browsing the other day to see what might be a fun technique for my club this month.  The project I want to share with you today is one that my club members will be making this month.  It uses a technique that I actually hadn't tried yet...Faux Silk.

The card is made with the Papaya Collage stamp set.  It's on page 72 of the Brand New Stampin' Up! Catalog.  I'm using two colors from the new In Colors...they are:
  • Gumball Green
  • Summer Starfruit
I'm a big fan of the new In Colors and love the new Firm Foam Ink Pads.

The faux silk technique uses crumpled tissue paper and an Anywhere Glue Stick.  It's really very simple and actually looks a lot like silk.

If you live in Jasper or the surrounding areas (Canton, Ellijay, Dawsonville, Fairmount, etc.) I would like to invite you to come join us for class.  We will be making this card, a cute slider card, and something else I haven't finished cooking up yet. :)  It's a great place to learn paper crafting techniques, meet new friends, relax, and have fun!  And...the club is for all skill levels.

I have three days scheduled for club this month... June 8, 10, and 12.  Click Here for more details and to register to attend.  Better yet...call a friend or two and see if they would like to join you! If you have questions feel free to give me a call or send me an email.
