The Hoppers Masculine Blog Hop Starts Today

Today begins the Hoppers Blog Hop for May.  The theme is Masculine cards! That's right - no pink or flowers today - these are all cards that would be great for the men in your life.  So if you are one of the many that struggles when you have to make a "man" card this is the perfect hop for you.

Visit each blog in the hop and leave a comment.   This will automatically enter you in a random drawing.  We will announce the winner on May 28, 2012.  A list of links to the other blogs in the hop are at the bottom of my post.  Have fun and good luck!

Lovely As A Tree is a great stamp set for a masculine card.   This is just one of the trees in the set.  Using markers the tree was colored with Certainly Celery and then thumped with Old Olive and Lucky Limeade before stamping.

Isn't this a fun Father's Day Card?  It's a good thing I had boys and a husband who travelled or I would have never been able tie this tie.  I saw this idea years ago on Mary Fish's blog and thought it would be a great card for our hop.  My version is definitely clean and simple.

Now for the prize.  Look at all these great Stampin' Up! products in our Prize Pack this month.  Remember all you have to do is leave a comment on each blog in the hop.  I hope you enjoy the hop and come away with some great ideas the next time you need a "man" card!

    1. Thanks Michelle. Just make sure you practice tying the tie because my guess is they will need a lot of help. :)

    1. Thanks Tina. I wish I had thought of the original idea for the tie. I'm actually surprised the idea came back to me after seeing it such a long time ago. I just bought the Lovely As A Tree several months ago and am so glad it didn't retire. I can't wait to use it more and teach my ladies the reflection idea.

    1. Funny Ariane. I wish I could say that much about my husband. He hardly ever wears a tie anymore. He works in an office in an extra garage behind the house and I'd hate to tell you how he dresses for work. lol

    1. Tanya, Thanks for stopping and leaving a comment. I agree with you...I don't think most of us need an excuse to buy another. :)

  10. I love your cards. The tie one is so cute...but did you sew the tie? I no longer have a machine. VERY creative. I love to read the comments, and had to go back and notice, the tree stamp DOES just fit in the dies I already own!

    1. Thanks Donna. I couldn't wait to try the tie on the card for this father's day. There's nothing to sew. It's actually tied like a real tie. I have had a number of people email me to ask how and I am telling them to google "how to tie a tie". I was taught by my husband to make a double windsor knot. I know there are some videos out there for several kinds of knots. If you give it a try...good luck with it. :)

  11. Oh! I'm soooo glad that you chose a masculine theme for the blog. I'm always needing masculine cards, and it's hard coming up with something, espcially since I'm always wanting to add flowers and ribbon to every card I make (ha/ha)!
Your tree is lovely, and your Father's Day card is awesome! Definitely going to have to try this for my guys (husband, sons, & sons-in-law) this year.

    1. Charlotte Ann, I'm with you with the flowers and ribbons. This hop was a bit of a challenge for me. Not so much coming up with something just making myself put down the flowers and ribbons. lol Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment.
